Varun Khanduja - User Experience

STUDY BUDDY-PALM PRE QUIZ APPLICATION

An Industry oriented situation was handed to our team to propose a design to a leading mobile service provider for having a educational tool specifically for multiple choice questions. Special consideration had to be given to the disability act and therefore the elements of the interface had to be designed with colors and fonts.

DESIGN PROCESS

CHALLENGE for this project was that we had to design a uniform interface for multiple choice questions with multiple answers as well the ones for single answer. Our target group was quite varied for this design, ranging from medical student, management professionals to cops. With these target group consideration a slew of concepts were presented. We finally took some features from concepts and tried to see if the final design could be improved incorporating some of those features. In middle of the project the team was given the sudden task of paying special attention to the disability act and thus certain parts of the interface had to be modified accordingly. Hello world

TEAM AND PERSONAL CONTRIBUTION

Team involved Elisha Hardy, Holt Ellis, Evan Lipton and I. Evan actively helped the team by acting as a facilitator. Elisha helped the team by keeping the team in check about the graphic design elements, because of the disability act consideration. Holt helped the team by conducting one of the usability tests and helping during the redesign and other processes.

Personally I contributed in the sketches and refining the sketches. Compiled the final report. Preparing the preparation materials for the user testing and making heuristics to be used during the testing. There was active involvement in other parts of the design mentioned with other team members as well. Hello world

FINAL DESIGN

After one round of redesign and user testing we delivered a Palm-pre phone application for multiple choice questions. The design was simplistic and ensured that learning curve for the end user with the interface was minimum. The motto of the design philosophy was " effortless way of learning". Certain colors which were initially part of the design were stripped to ensure the compliance to disability act, for example the use of bright colors. Certain features like use of audio was incorporated to help certain segments of disabled population. Hello world
